~Nomination Ballots: It’s that time of year as we choose our deacons and elders to serve our church. Nomination letter and ballots are in your church mailbox. Ballots are due back by October 6th. Please place them in the box marked ballots across from the mailboxes. Please, prayerfully consider your nominations!

Join us Wednesday, October 2, 2024 @ 6:30pm at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, 300 E Iowa Ave., George, IA. For a community event titled “Finding Hope in the Storm” by nationwide inspirational speaker, Deb Hadley, delivers a message of hope and healing. She has endured many hardships through grief but strives to find a purpose and meaning in her suffering. She is the founder of KT Humble hearts. ~AREA MEN'S EVENT:   Men and Young Men, Save the Date of Thursday, November 7 for the Mendistry Area Men's Event at the Maurice Orange City High School Gym.

MOC-FV girls basketball coach, Chris Yaw, will be sharing his story of heartache and hope when his High School daughter was diagnosed with leukemia.  He will be asking the question, "How Deep Is Your Bench?"  More information will be coming.

~Please mark your calendars for "An Evening of Praise" on Saturday, October 5.  Bible League International (BLI) Ambassadors are sponsoring a music concert at the B. J. Haan Auditorium at Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa beginning at 7 p.m.   The groups that will be performing are Ensemble Royale and The Klaasens.  A freewill offering will be taken for BLI.  Please invite your friends and family to "An Evening of Praise."  Everyone is welcome!

Join the Hope Haven My Day group on Tuesday, October 1st & 15th at the Atlas Ministry Center in Rock Rapids, IA from 9-11am as we will be serving coffee and pastries and playing bingo. Come and play and win a prize as well. All are welcome to come!

REMINDER of CARE ELDER MEETING tomorrow night @ 6:30 in Elijah Room


~Bethel Reformed Church is hosting the 3rd annual Women’s Conference at Bethel Reformed Church in Lester, IA and we welcome the women of your church to join us! The event is Saturday, October 19th from 8:30-12:30 and is centered around the theme of God’s Character’ He is faithful. He is good and kind…even if, even when, even though. There is no charge for this event, but we do ask that you register at www.eventbrite.com and search for Bethel Women’s Conference 2024. Transportation is available from Rock Rapids to Lester. Contact Cheryl Van Beek if you would like to carpool.

9/29/2024             Vision of the Risen Christ                                   Revelation 1:9-20

Purpose of Revelation: Encourage the Church to Fulfill the Great Commission until Christ’s return

What is happening in the Passage?   John sees a vision of Lampstands, the glorified Son of Man, Sword coming out of his mouth, stars in his right hand, commanding John to write down what he sees.   

1. Vision

  1. 7 Golden Lampstands = 7 Churches
    1. Lampstand:
      1. Tabernacle lampstand- Exodus 25
      2. The purpose of the lampstand was to give light. (Matt. 15:5)

 

  1. Notice: 7 lamps per lampstand. (Picture of the church)

 

  1. Someone like the Son of Man
    1. John recognized Jesus, but he was transformed.
      1. Biggest Loser.

 

  1. Among the 7 Lampstands (Matt 28)

 

  1. Description
    1. Robe with Golden Sash (Dan. 10)
    2. Hair white as wool, Eyes like fire (Dan. 7)
    3. Feet like burning bronze. (Dan. 10)

 

  1. Holding 7 Stars in his right hand
    1. The messages for the churches come from Jesus.

    1. God’s word defines right from wrong, judges thoughts and attitude of the heart.
