Fervent Love Sermon Notes 1 Peter 4:1-11
"Live no longer for human passions, but for the will of God." – 1 Peter 4:2
Because Christ suffered for us and we belong to Him, our desires, priorities, relationships, and use of time are transformed as we walk daily with Jesus.
I. New Desires (verses 2-6)
Old Way
New Desire in Christ
Key Truth:
I no longer live for _______________________________
but for __________________________________________.
II. A New Way of Using Time (verse 7)
Before Christ
- How did I spend my time? Does it reflect sound judgement & a sober spirit?
After Surrender
- What should characterize my time now?
Reflection:
How does my calendar reveal what I truly value?
III. A New Way of Relating to Others (verses 8-11)
Love Deeply
Who needs Christ-like love from me this week?
Practice Hospitality
How can I open my home, table, or life?
Serve Faithfully
What gifts has God entrusted to me?
Compare the Two Ways of Living
Before Christ | Walking Daily with Jesus |
Self-centered desires & living for pleasure | According to God's desires & living for God’s will |
Wasted time & self-serving relationships | Redeemed time & loving relationships |
Using gifts for self & my glory | Serving others & bring God glory |
Personal Response
One old habit God is calling me to surrender & one new desire that He’s growing in me:
One relationship I want to reflect Christ in & a way to steward my time differently:
One way I will steward my time differently:
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace." 1 Peter 4:10
