•Tanner Lincecum (Pray that Tanner’s shunt will continue to work effectively)

•Bonita Schwan, Norma Jansma’s daughter (serious health conditions and side effects from previous cancer surgeries)

•Lambert Van Olst (receiving treatments for leukemia)

•Karen De Noble, David De Noble’s mother (has been diagnosed with cancer; please pray for comfort as Karen goes through chemotherapy treatments)

•Graham Johnson, great grandson of Don & Doris Calkins (is now 4 lbs and 2 months old; family is grateful for ongoing prayers)

•Carol Groen (coping with lower back problems)

•Thomas Bouwman, Tom & Sheryl Bouwman’s son (continues to experience some improvement; is now working on another round of physical therapy goals)

•Danny Bolerjack, Danielle Bouwman’s father (recovering from a stroke)

•Greyson Austin (doing well on Humira; pray for Greyson’s stamina to increase)

•Denise Roskam (pray for continued healing from cancer)

•Tony Schoneveld, Jessica Harman’s grandfather (has stage 4 COPD).

•Missy Perkins (currently at the Rock Rapids Health Center)

•Roberta Flier (recovering from shoulder surgery at home)

•Vicky Van Houten, Judy Netten’s sister (has started chemotherapy for ovarian cancer)

•Laura Stuerman (recovering from recent surgery on her Achilles tendon)

Sympathy:We wish to extend our sympathy to Bryce and Chelsea Hunt and their family on the death of Chelsea’s father, Keith Czapla, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in East Carondelet, Illinois.A visitation for Keith was held at Braun Family Funeral Home last Tuesday, October 29, in Columbia, Illinois.

Sympathy:We extend our sympathy to Tom and Audra Klinkenborg and their family on the death of Audra’s mother, Judy Knigge, on October 28, 2019.The funeral service for Judy will be on Tuesday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home-Southside Chapel in Sioux Falls, SD.There will be visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.

Hearing Devices Available:Are you having difficulty hearing the service?Our church has a hearing assistance system.If you are having difficulty hearing during the worship service and would like to try a receiver, please check at the sound booth at the back of the sanctuary or with Dave Hulstein.

MEMBERSHIP CLASS:Pastor Dan is going to hold a “Membership Class” on Wednesday nights.Participating in the class does not require you to join the church and can be a time to explore and ask questions.Please let me know is you are interested in attending. ~ Pastor Dan

Library News!Exciting news:New released movies – Unplanned & Breakthrough are available to be checked out in the Church Library.Also come see what other new and exciting books are available.

Save the Date! Center of Hope in Sioux Falls invites you to attend their fun-filled Fall Benefit on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Sioux Falls Christian Schools. We will have a wonderful time celebrating what God has done this past year and sharing about the changes coming in 2020.We are looking forward to seeing you there! Tickets are $10 per person over age 12 and are available at by phone at 605-334-9789 or on our website at www.centerofhopesf.org. ALL proceeds will benefit the ministry of the Center of Hope. We are thankful for the generous corporate support from Sammons Financial Group and First Premier Bank in covering the evening’s expenses.

Sunday, November 10 (next Sunday) at 11:45 - Potluck at First Reformed:

We are having and staff appreciation potluck meal next Sunday, November 10 at 11:45 am.This is a time to fellowship together and to also show appreciation for our staff here at FRC.We ask that you either bring a hot dish or a cold dish.Tableware and drinks will be provided.A gallon of milk or dinner rolls would be a great substitute if you are unable to prepare a dish (please contact Mary Hoogers at 472-3097 and she will let you know what is needed).Let's OVERWHELM our staff with appreciation and enjoy one another's fellowship and food!!

We are only a couple weeks away from our 4th annual packing party! Some supplies are still needed. Please check the sign-up sheet in the gathering space to see what you can donate. You are also encouraged to pack a box or two as an individual or a family. There are boxes and brochures for your use at the OCC table. Please feel free to take all you need. I urge you to include a letter in your box. There are many stories of the most precious gift to the child who receives a shoebox gift is the letter inside. Volunteers are also need for our drop-off center as we receive boxes from individuals and other churches in the area. A sign-up sheet can be found on the OCC table. Thank you for your continued support in this ministry that has eternal impacts on the children who receive our gifts, as well as their families and communities. You are a blessing.

“Surviving the Holidays” is coming!A GriefShare “Surviving the Holidays” seminar will be offered here at First Reformed Church on Monday, November 18, 2019, from 6:45-8:45 p.m.This seminar is helpful and encouraging for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death.It features practical suggestions and gives reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death.Topics to be discussed include dealing with hard-hitting emotions, what to do about traditions, how to survive social events, and where to find comfort and strength.For more information and/or to register contact Sue Haggar at the church office (472-3729).There is no charge for this seminar, and participants will receive a helpful booklet about the information shared.

The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra will present a Fall Concert, “The American Dream,” on Tuesday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium on the campus of Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Attention:Cable TV Channel 12 Church Service Watchers:

This past month Premier Communications has been having technical difficulties.We now have the capability of sending our service to them electronically instead of delivering the DVD to another site.Since this change, church services from our area have been wrong.Premier Communications is working on the problem.Sorry about this, but hopefully they will have this corrected soon.If it is not fixed soon there are still other options to watch the service.

3 other options:

  1. Go to church website – www.rockrapids frc.org/ - click on watch service live and it will come on.Also, can click on link that says sermons to get previous church services.
  2. Go to www.youtube.com – type in First Reformed Church Rock Rapids on the search bar – all the church services are on display – pick which date you would like to see.
  3. A DVD is still being made and put in the box by the church mailboxes.This DVD can be taken home, but please remember to return them in a timely manner.
