•Bonita Schwan, Norma Jansma’s daughter (serious health conditions and side effects from previous cancer surgeries)

•Lambert Van Olst (receiving treatments for leukemia)

•Karen De Noble, David De Noble’s mother (has been diagnosed with cancer; please pray for comfort as Karen goes through chemotherapy treatments)

•Graham Johnson, great-grandson of Don & Doris Calkins (see prayer update below)

•Carol Groen (coping with lower back problems)

•Dalton Korthals (recovering from knee surgery on November 13)

•Thomas Bouwman, Tom & Sheryl Bouwman’s son (continues to make progress in physical therapy)

•Greyson Austin (doing well on Humira; pray for Greyson’s stamina to increase)

•Denise Roskam (pray for continued healing from cancer)

•Tony Schoneveld, Jessica Harman’s grandfather (has stage 4 COPD).

•Roberta Flier (recovering from shoulder surgery at home)

•Vicky Van Houten, Judy Netten’s sister (has started chemotherapy for ovarian cancer)

•Laura Stuerman (recovering from recent surgery on her Achilles tendon)

•Ray Schram, Jeff Schram’s father (recently diagnosed with cancer on his leg)

•Jordan Menning (scheduled for back surgery on November 22 in Sioux Falls)

•Joe Gacke (scheduled for gall bladder surgery on November 27 in Rock Rapids)

*Your prayers are also requested for the following individuals who are coping with cancer:Melissa Moser (Kathy Moser’s daughter-in-law), Marilyn Kuyper (Ethanie Pulscher’s aunt; continues to be treated for cancer and is experiencing a lot of fatigue), Arlene Sterler, Robbie Korthals’ mother (Arlene’s cancer has moved to her lungs; pray for Arlene’s doctors to have wisdom as they care for her), and Trish Lombard, Tara Bouwman’s mother (recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer).

Prayer Updates:Graham Johnson was discharged from Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN on November 11, 2019.Graham is now living at home with his parents and grandparents in Wisconsin.Graham’s parents have requested prayers for Graham’s transition to home.They have also asked for prayers that Graham would be past his severe reactions to reflux.Missy Perkins will be living at the Rock Rapids Health Center on a permanent basis.Missy appreciates the Health Center staff and the care that she is receiving there.

We would like to say thank you for all your kind expressions of sympathy and thoughtfulness after our mother passed away.It is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.Tom, Audra Klinkenborg and family ~ I would also like to say a special thank you to my care group for the beautiful lantern in memory of my mom.I am grateful for such a caring and loving group. NOMINATIONS FOR 2020 CONSISTORY: The following have been nominated for Consistory starting in the year 2020. These names will be published for three Sundays concluding on December 8 when we will have our Congregational Meeting. If anyone has a spiritual or moral reason any of these persons should not be considered please speak with one our elders or Pastor Dan. ELDERS: Greg DeJong, JD Hommes, Jerry Pytleski, Scott Sieperda. DEACONS: Tait Anderson, Brad Baker, Bryce Hunt, Lance Iwen, Jeff Jager, Mike Klarenbeek, Jerry Pytleski, Daniel Moser, Rodney Vanden Top.

Baptism:This morning we are privileged to administer the sacrament of Baptism to Liam Michael Wallace Schartze, the son of Chris and Ashley Schwartze and brother to Lily and Noah.

Meeting TODAY:November 24 the Decorating Committee will be meeting at 2:00 pm in the social hall.

BUDGET MEETING:Tomorrow night, Monday November 25, at 6:30 pm the Deacons will be available to review the church budget for 2020 with any and all member of the congregation in the Fellowship Hall.All are welcome.

THANKSGIVING EVE WORSHIP SERVICE:This coming Wednesday night, November 27 at 6:30 pm is our annual Thanksgiving Worship Service.The offering from this worship event is a significant contribution to our Benevolent Fund.

This morning will we pray over all the boxes our congregation has packed for Operation Christmas Child. Thank you to each and every one of you who contributed to or helped at our packing party and who packed boxes on your own. Each shoebox gift has the potential to make an eternal impact on the child who receives it, as well as many others! There is a prayer bookmark in today’s bulletin. Please consider making these prayers a part of our daily routine, not just in the coming week, but all year long.

Thanksgiving Meal!Celebrate Thanksgiving with turkey and all the fixings at the Community Thanksgiving meal at First Reformed Church on Thursday, November 28.Meal starts at noon.If you plan to attend or would like a Thanksgiving meal delivered to your home sign-up by Sunday, Nov. 24 in the back of church, contact the Church office, or Chamber of Commerce.Volunteers and Food Donations are still needed.We need food donations of Pies and/or Salads dropped off at the church kitchen by 9:30 am.If you plan to attend you can come early and help with set-up or stay late to help with clean-up.Set-up crews are needed to come in from 9:30 am - 11:00 am.Delivery Drivers please arrive at 10:30 am.Clean-up crew can start at 2:00 pm.Thank you!!!

Needed:Willing workers (Men, Women & Children) to help decorate the church and gathering space for the Christmas Season.Please come and assist the decorating committee on Wednesday, Nov. 27 immediately after the Thanksgiving Eve Services.Thank you!

Our Sunday School Christmas Program (ages 3 – 5th grade) will be Sunday, December 1st at 4:00 PM. Please note the time change. Pre-K – 5th grade classes will be practicing in the sanctuary the next two weeks. Kids will report to their classrooms for attendance and a snack before coming to the sanctuary. Parents: please plan to pick your children up in the sanctuary around 11:40 AM today and next week. Thanks!

You Are Invited!We are having the Annual All-Church Christmas Party on Wednesday December 11 at 5:45 with a meal and lots of fun games and prizes.See the Bridge and the upcoming bulletin for more details.You must RSVP for this meal by signing up in the gathering space or by calling the church office.We hope to see you all there.Provided by the Women’s Ministries

Attention:Cable TV Channel 12 Church Service Watchers:

This past month Premier Communications has been having technical difficulties.We now have the capability of sending our service to them electronically instead of delivering the DVD to another site.Since this change, church services from our area have been wrong.Premier Communications is working on the problem.Sorry about this, but hopefully they will have this corrected soon.If it is not fixed soon there are still other options to watch the service.

  1. Go to church website – www.rockrapids frc.org/ - click on watch service live and it will come on.Also, can click on link that says sermons to get previous church services.
  2. Go to www.youtube.com – type in First Reformed Church Rock Rapids on the search bar – all the church services are on display – pick which date you would like to see.
  3. A DVD is still being made and put in the box by the church mailboxes.This DVD can be taken home, but please remember to return them in a timely manner.
