7/20/2025                         The Binding of Satan                       Revelation 20:1-6

Intro: Structure of Revelation: 7 Episodes of “Superbowl”

Ending of 6th Vision in Revelation 19 and Beginning 7th Vision in Revelation 20.

  1. Jesus Binds Satan at his First Coming
    1. What does that mean that Jesus Binds Satan?
      1. Old Testament
      2. Jesus’ Temptation in Matt. 4
      3. Casting out Demons 
        1. Disciples casting out Demons in his Name.
        2. Matt. 12:25-29 Binding of the Strong man.
      4. Col. 2:15
        1. Having Disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, winning victory over them by the cross.
      5. John 12:30
        1. Casting off Satan and drawing all people to himself. 
      6. Great Commission: Make disciples of all nations
        1. Revelation 7: Gospel is received by every tribe nation, tongue and language. Jesus bound Satan from no longer deceiving the Nations

 

  1. Is Satan powerless?
    1. No: Like a dangerous animal chained up, there is still great power. But the effect is limited.
      1. Satan cannot stop the gospel from advancing and winning people from every tribe, nation, language from salvation.
      2. But he can cause persecution, discouragement, temptation.
    2. Example: (End of the Spear)

 

  1. Jesus Reigns Spiritually with his Disciples for 1000 years. 
    1. 1000 years
      1. From the time of his First Coming until his Second Coming.

 

  1. First Resurrection = Being Born Again (Spiritually)
    1. Eph. 2:1-6
    2. Those who had not received the “Mark” 
      1. Foreheads
      2. Hands

 

  1. We reign with Jesus Spiritually until his Return.
    1. When we die, our souls are with Jesus. (1 Thes. 4:14)
