2/11/24 Sermon Notes
Philippians 4:8-9 Battle for the Christian Mind
Intro: Theme of the Letter: What you think, matters!
Battle for the Christian Mind is as old as Time!
- Creation
- God’s Good Design for You.
- Adam named the animals, Eve thought through God’s command.
- Satan attacks the Mind.
- Makes us questions God in our Minds before he tempts us with Disobedience.
- Adam and Eve, Cain, Noah, Abraham, David, Jonah, etc.
- Peace with God begins in the mind.
- “Think.”
- Meditate (Reflective), Reason/Logic, Filling of our mind
- Think on the Things of God.
- List is the Character of God, not list of “Do’s/Don’ts.”
- Sports, Music, Movies, Media, Friends
- True, Noble, Right, Pure, Lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy.
- What are the things you “Think” about?
- Toxic Thinking leads to division, chaos, and sin.
- Podcasts, Social Media, Friends, Music, Sports, etc.
- Peace comes through putting these into Practice.
- Not Perfection, but Practice.
- Lifelong pursuit of the becoming more like Jesus.
- Romans 12:2
- Not enough to research or to “Know” what God says, must put in into practice. Eve knew and didn’t do.
