Announcements for 5-23-21 

~This morning will conclude our memory work with our 5th grade class, who will recite the Beatitudes. Thank you to all the children, teachers and parents who worked hard on their memory work this year! Today is our last day of Sunday School. What a blessed year it has been! Thank you to everyone who helped in any way with our education programs this year.

~This morning Inma Manjon, the Spanish teacher for Central Lyon, will say a few words on their behalf as they are preparing to return to their home in Spain. ~ Inma Manjon, Javier, Alberto, and Moises Ortiz

Thank you:  We would like to thank the congregation for their cards, prayers after my recent surgery. A special thank you to our Care Elders, Debbie and Steve Crane. ~ Dan and Deb Kruse

Announcement:  Beginning next Sunday, May 30 we will resume passing of the offering plate during morning worship. You may also give online, by mail or place your offering in the locked box outside the church office. Thank you for your faithful support over the last year and continued giving. 

Announcement: Our cable channel 12 worship service will now begin at 5:15pm and run until 6:45pm. 

Stations of Worship: We are excited for you to join us on Tuesday, May 25 for dinner at 5:00 followed by the Stations of Worship at 6:00.  This is a come and go event.  We will have:

  • Open Hymn Sing, 6:00-6:30 in the sanctuary with Ev Breuer playing the organ for us
  • Contemporary Worship, 6:30-7:00 in the sanctuary with a praise team
  • Prayer with others in the prayer chapel
  • Prayer Labyrinth in the back of the fellowship hall
  • Scripture Reading in the library

Summer Special Music: Musicians and Non-musicians wanted for Special Music for summer.  You can sing, play an instrument, dance, act, or share your song testimony.  A song testimony is telling us how God spoke through a song to you, what a song means to you, or how God used a song in your life.  Sign up in the gathering space or contact Valerie Lenderink, frcmusic@premieronline.net.

MEMBERSHIP CLASS:  If you are interested in becoming a member of our congregation, please plan to attend our Membership Class on June 27. Please contact Cheryl Van Beek for more details or to sign up. Deadline for registration is June 1.

*Mark your calendars! VBS will be June 8-10, 2021 (Tuesday – Thursday). Online registration is available at https://rockrapids.myanswers.com/mystery-island/  We would love to have you join us, whether a child or adult volunteer! Please talk to Amy Schulte about positions available.

~ MYSTERY ISLAND VBS IS IN NEED OF SUPPLIES:  A sign up sheet will be in the gathering space, please consider helping out and signing up to donate. Please have your supplies to the church by Sunday the 6th of June. Thanks

~We want to cover our week at Mystery Island in prayer. Jen Kock will be leading prayer in the prayer chapel on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9 am and noon and again on Thursday at 9 am. If you are interested in joining Jen in covering our children and VBS staff in prayer, please contact Jen or Amy Schulte.

*Common Ground and Coffee Break will be merging beginning June 6.   There will be coffee available before worship while coffee and cookies will be offered from the Common Ground Station following worship.    We are looking for more volunteers to serve as “Coffee Monitors” following worship and also monetary donations to provide cookies. Contact Tait Anderson or Cheryl Van Beek for more information or to sign up.

REGISTER FOR A HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME! Tri-State Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is accepting applications for the upcoming weekend at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. TEC is an interdenominational three, day Christian retreat designed to help high schoolers learn more about their faith and their community. The next TEC is June 25-27, 2021. If you would like to learn more about TEC or register, please visit www.TriStateTEC.com or email Tri-StateTEC@gmail.com. The cost for the weekend $50 and includes a t-shirt & other special gifts. Scholarships are available upon request.

                        

Greyson Austin (Marlene Mellema’s grandson) went to Mayo with suspected blocked bowel but it wasn’t!
