Sympathy: We extend our sympathy to the family of Frances Weerheim regarding the death of Frances on October 22. The funeral for Frances is planned for Monday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. here at First Reformed Church. The visitation for Frances will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at our church.

It’s Operation Christmas Child time again! There are many opportunities for you to get involved: you can pack a shoebox or two on your own (shoeboxes are available in the gathering space), you can donate items for our packing party (sign-up sheet available in the gathering space), you can volunteer during collection week, or you can do all three! Each box has the potential not only to change a child’s life for eternity, but an entire family and sometimes community. Please see Amy Schulte for more details.

A GriefShare “Surviving the Holidays” seminar will be offered at our church on Thursday, November 15, from 6:45-8:45 p.m. This seminar is helpful and encouraging for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. It features practical suggestions and gives reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the holidays after their loved one’s death. Topics to be discussed include dealing with hard-hitting emotions, what to do about traditions, how to survive social events, and where to find comfort and strength.
