•Tanner Lincecum (Pray that Tanner’s shunt will continue to work effectively)

•Bonita Schwan, Norma Jansma’s daughter (serious health conditions and side effects from previous cancer surgeries)

•Lambert Van Olst (receiving treatments for leukemia)

•Karen De Noble, David De Noble’s mother (has been diagnosed with cancer; please pray for comfort as Karen goes through chemotherapy treatments)

•Graham Johnson, great grandson of Don & Doris Calkins (is now 4 lbs and 2 months old; family is grateful for ongoing prayers)

•Carol Groen (coping with lower back problems)

•Thomas Bouwman, Tom & Sheryl Bouwman’s son (continues to experience some improvement; is now working on another round of physical therapy goals)

•Danny Bolerjack, Danielle Bouwman’s father (recovering from a stroke)

•Tony Schoneveld, Jessica Harman’s grandfather (has stage 4 COPD).

•Missy Perkins (recovering from surgery; currently at the Rock Rapids Health Center)

•Greyson Austin (has started Humira injections every 2 weeks; pray for Greyson’s internal healing; so thankful that he is able to be off his Prednisone for now.We thank you again for your prayers)

•Denise Roskam (pray that Denise’s cancer treatments will go well and be effective)

•Vicky Van Houten, Judy Netten’s sister (diagnosed with ovarian cancer; recovering from recent surgery)

•Roberta Flier (recovering from shoulder surgery at home)

•Judy Knigge, Audra Klinkenborg’s mother (undergoing medical tests)

*Your prayers are also requested for the following individuals who are coping with cancer:Melissa Moser (Kathy Moser’s daughter-in-law), Marilyn Kuyper (Ethanie Pulscher’s aunt), Arlene Sterler, Robbie Korthals’ mother (recently fell and fractured her leg; currently has several spots on her leg that are cancerous; pray for Arlene’s doctors to have wisdom as they care for her), and Jeremy Hespen, Merlin & Jackie Groen’s nephew (recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma).

Sympathy:We wish to extend our sympathy to Joyce Mellema and her family on the passing of her 71 year old brother, David Vanden Bos of Sturgis, MI.David passed away on October 7 and a Celebration of his Life was held yesterday, October 12 in Sturgis, MI.

Thank you to our church family for all the personal condolences, cards, gifts, flowers, food & especially for all the prayers as we have experienced two losses our grandson Leo & my Mom, Jean in the past couple months. We have felt the comfort of the Holy Spirit through many prayers! ~ Dave, Deb Markus & family

Thank You for Your Service!For 17 years Audrey Postma, Nettie Roskam, Rodney Vanden Top, and Dave Hulstein have been delivering VCR tapes and DVD’s with our church service on it to Immanuel Lutheran Church and putting it in the player so that everyone could watch the Sunday Service on channel 12 on cable TV at 5:30 pm each Sunday.Premier Communications has changed arrangements and now it is electronically sent and will still be seen at 5:30 pm every Sunday Night. We’d like to thank these individuals for their service and dedication to this ministry.

Today we are celebrating Holy Communion. Guests who are in good and right standing with their home church are invited to partake with us.

MEMBERSHIP CLASS:Pastor Dan is going to hold a “Membership Class” on Wednesday nights.Participating in the class does not require you to join the church and can be a time to explore and ask questions.Please let me know is you are interested in attending. ~ Pastor Dan

NOMINATIONS FOR ELDERS AND DEACONS! Please check your box for the annual letter to members of the congregation asking you to nominate elders and deacons to replace those whose terms are finished at the end of the year. Carefully read the letter for those persons who are not eligible or declined to be nominated. The deadline for ballots being turned in is Sunday, October 20, 2019.

Women's Ministry Executive Committee will meet on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 345.Please find the agenda for the meeting in your church mailbox.

To All Care Elders:Our Care Elder Fall Gathering will be held on Tuesday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.Our program for the evening will be “What Is Your Story?”We will explore the importance of your personal faith journey and how to share your faith journey with your Care Group members!We will also have some delicious snacks for you to enjoy and some time to share with your fellow Care Elders.We hope to see YOU on October 22!

Save the Date! Center of Hope in Sioux Falls invites you to attend their fun-filled Fall Benefit on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Sioux Falls Christian Schools. We will have a wonderful time celebrating what God has done this past year and sharing about the changes coming in 2020.We are looking forward to seeing you there! Tickets are $10 per person over age 12 and are available at by phone at 605-334-9789 or on our website at www.centerofhopesf.org. ALL proceeds will benefit the ministry of the Center of Hope. We are thankful for the generous corporate support from Sammons Financial Group and First Premier Bank in covering the evening’s expenses.

Our Operation Christmas Child supply drive is underway! Though our packing party isn’t until November, now is a great time to gather supplies with the Back to School sales. There is a sign-up sheet in the gathering space and a box under the coat racks to drop off your supplies. If you have any questions, please talk to Amy Schulte. Thanks!

Church Pictorial Directory Information

We invite all those who are regularly attend First Reformed and are not officially members to have your picture taken and put in the Pictorial Directory.

LifeTouch was here this past week.Thank you to all you participated in the photo sessions!There are still some photo sessions available on Tuesday – Wednesday, Oct 22 and Oct 23.Call the church office or use the link on our website to sign up for a session.

For those who are signed up for a photo session, here is some additional information:

  • Please be on-time as there are many photo sessions scheduled for the day
  • Photo sessions will be held here at First Reformed. Use the north door of the church (by the offices)
  • Pictures will be taken in the Adult Choir Room (by the nursery)
  • Volunteers will be present to show you where you need to go
  • Will take approximately 1 hour (1/2 hour for photo shoot and ½ hour for viewing and selecting photos). The photo shoot time will be for the directory but there is an option for a fun photo, baby pictures, pictures of the children, etc. if you wish

  • You will receive a free 8x10
  • Option to purchase pictures, but no obligation to purchase
  • If you order pictures, they will be shipped directly to the address you provide at the photo session
  • You will receive a printed copy of the directory in January
  • Background color is stone
  • Reminder phone calls and emails will be sent to give you a reminder of your photo session
  • Photos may be submitted if you are unable to attend a photo shoot.

  • If you are submitting a photo, it must be 250 dpi (dots per inch).It is recommended to be a horizontal picture.
  • Email your photo to Val at frchurch@premieronline.net no later than Friday, October 18
  • You must have a signed copyright release if it is a professional photograph.(Val has a release form in the office if you need one)
  • You will receive a printed copy of the directory in January
