Announcements for 5-16-21

~This morning our 4^th grade class will recite the Books of the Bible. Next week, our 5^th grade class will recite the Beatitudes and we will recognize our Outstanding Attendance Awards. Net Sunday will also be our last day of Sunday School. Parents: please have your 5^th graders to their classroom by 9:15 AM. When they are finished, the children will join their families for the remainder of worship. Thank you!

Thank you: To all of you who helped make my 90^th birthday a special day. The messages, phone calls, and cards added a cheerful touch to my days, as did the gifts and flowers. Thank you, too to my care elder who is an ever, present support to me.  ~ Elizabeth (Betty) Vanden Heuvel

Stations of Worship: We are excited for you to join us on Tuesday, May 25 for dinner at 5:00 followed by the Stations of Worship at 6:00.  This is a come and go event.  We will have:

• Open Hymn Sing, 6:00-6:30 in the sanctuary with Ev Breuer playing the organ for us
• Contemporary Worship, 6:30-7:00 in the sanctuary with a praise team
• Prayer with others in the prayer chapel
• Prayer Labyrinth in the back of the fellowship hall
• Scripture Reading in the library

Summer Special Music: Musicians and Non-musicians wanted for Special Music for summer.  You can sing, play an instrument, dance, act, or share your song testimony.  A song testimony is telling us how God spoke through a song to you, what a song means to you, or how God used a song in your life.  Sign up in the gathering space or contact Valerie Lenderink, frcmusic@premieronline.net.

MEMBERSHIP CLASS:  If you are interested in becoming a member of our congregation, please plan to attend our Membership Class on June 27. Please contact Cheryl Van Beek for more details or to sign up. Deadline for registration is June 1.

**Please plan to join us for a Sunday School picnic on Sunday, May 23^rd at 11:30 am. ALL are welcome! Lunch will be served in the fellowship hall. Please bring lawn chairs and blankets as we plan to eat outside (weather permitting).      

**Mark your calendars! VBS will be June 8-10, 2021 (Tuesday – Thursday). Online registration is available at https://rockrapids.myanswers.com/mystery-island/  We would love to have you join us, whether a child or adult volunteer! Please talk to Amy Schulte about positions available.

 *Common Ground and Coffee Break will be merging beginning June 6.   There will be coffee available before worship while coffee and cookies will be offered from the Common Ground Station following worship.    We are looking for more volunteers to serve as “Coffee Monitors” following worship and also monetary donations to provide cookies. REGISTER FOR A HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME! Tri-State Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is accepting applications for the upcoming weekend at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. TEC is an interdenominational three, day Christian retreat designed to help high schoolers learn more about their faith and their community. The next TEC is June 25-27, 2021.
