Sermon Outline

Romans 7:21 – 8:4

Introduction: Romans 8 is the most reassuring chapter in the Bible. Verses 1-4 teach the Christian how to respond to feeling of condemnation.

  • I.BELIEVE GOD’S PROMISE (Romans 8:1)
  • A.No Condemnations Means:
  • 1.God is not angry with me (Romans 5:1)
  • 2.God does not punish me (Psalm 103:10-12)
  • God will convict me of sin
  • God will allow consequences of sin
  • God will lovingly correct (discipline) me
  • 3.God does not reject me
  • B.If God Does Not Condemn Me Then I Should Not Condemn Myself
  • A.There Are Two Different Laws/Principles At Work
  • The new law of the Spirit of Life …
  • liberates me free from …
  • The old law of sin and death
  • B.How Does God Secure This Liberty?
  • He sent His Son
  • In the likeness of sinful man
  • To be a sin offering
  • He condemned sin in sinful man
  • He fulfilled the righteous law in us
  • He gives us His Holy Spirit

Growth Work: Soak up these truths into your thinking by reading the four ways God does not condemn us before you got to sleep each night; balance every condemning statement with a God truth; read through Romans 8.
